Love Island’s Rosie Williams has revealed her beauty secret to hair removal and staying fuzz-free while in the Spanish villa while surrounded by hunks Adam Collard, Charlie Frederick and Josh Denzel.
On Love Island: Aftersun Georgia Steel’s housemate – who has already sparked speculation she has had cosmetic surgery – revealed she had packed her IPL hair removal to ensure she was silky smooth on the show. She said: “Laser hair machine. I basically zap all my hair off with this.”
But what is IPL and laser hair removal?
Here is everything you need to know Rosie’s hair removal methofs; from the benefits of the IPL tool to where to get your very own…
What is IPL?
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light.
IPL is an alternative hair removal method to plucking with tweezers, waxing and threading.
The islanders have a private chat group on their mobiles where they can talk amongst themselves – they also use it to take pictures and recive notifications from Love Island
According to the Boots website IPL is different to laser treatment as it is more effective. The site reads: “It uses light to stop hair growth in its tracks. You might have seen salons offering laser treatment, but this can actually destroy the hair follicle. IPL is a gentler and safer treatment that’s kinder to your skin.
“IPL works by sending pulses of light into the skin, which penetrate individual hairs and get soaked up by the dark pigment inside. This light turns to heat and kills off some of the cells inside the hair, so that it doesn’t grow anymore.”
According to Boots IPL is “gentler” and “safer” than other hair removal methods.
The site reads: “IPL is a gentler and safer treatment that’s kinder to your skin, cheaper than salon visits in the long run and means you can fit sessions around your lifestyle.”
IPL is less painful hair removal method.
Boots state: “IPL is the least painful method of hair removal in use. It hurts less than waxing, threading or epilating, but it can cause some soreness on the skin. Although each of the pulses lasts only a few seconds at most, at first you may be unused to the feeling.”
Where to get yours
Phillips Lumea Prestige IPL is the most recommended product to use, and appears to be the same product Love Island’s Rosie – who boasts an impressive career as a solicitor – uses.
The product, which previously cost £575 has been reduced to £475 online at Boots, has curved attachments suited to all areas of the body from underarms and bikini line to legs and face.
However, less expensive products are also available from Boots, such as Sensilight Mini 50,000 Flashes with RPL Technology For Permanent Hair Reduction for just under £100.
Boots is not the only store to stock IPL, as Argos, and Superdrug also do.
Love Island continues on ITV2 at 9pm.
