Love Island’s Hayley Hughes advised Charlie Frederick to tint is eyebrows – a grooming habit that is sweeping the male population much more than the 23 year old model thinks, as he declared the beauty technique as “feminine” [ITV2 Love Island ]

Love Island is well into series four, and the inevitable has begun to happen, from heartbreak and betrayal to getting cosy in the hideaway.

And naturally, next comes all the insider beauty chat from the Islanders.

Hayley Hughes recently quizzed Charlie Frederick over his eyebrows — or lack of.

The Liverpool born model advised the confused newcomer to tint his eyebrows assuring: “Loads of people do it!”

While the 23 year old from Plymouth labelled the beauty treatment as “feminine,” new statistics and industry insiders are proving that brow grooming is increasingly becoming a male pass time, too.

The male grooming market is now worth £2 billion, and shows like Love Island have been helping the market shift.

Superdrug, sponsors of the ITV2 show, explain: “Less than two years ago, only one in 50 appointments at Superdrug’s Brow Bars were for male customers. Today men make up almost ten per cent of all appointments at the retailer who has 293 Brow & Lash Bars in its stores across the UK.”

But what do experts recommend for Islander Charlie?

Owner of Clinic Privee Eye Couture and Brow Expert Samantha Trace exclusively told OK! Online: “With his striking jaw line and strong facial features, his pale brows are not shaping his face to his best potential.

“The ideal treatment for Charlie would be something like tinting which would dye his natural hair to create more visible brows.

“Today there are so many great tints offering a wide range of colours, so gone are the days of light brown or dark brown — we now have colours for blondes!

The beauty expert continued: “Applied subtly, the tint will change the shade of each hair strand creating a natural look that lasts between 4-6 weeks.”

“With a tinting treatment, the brows will be slightly darkened which brings out some hairs that were before invisible, creating an even more natural look. Any stray hairs can be tweezed taking Charlie from ‘missing brow search party’ to Brad Pitt brows!”

How about for men looking for something more permanent?

Sian Dellar, Award Winning Permanent Makeup Artist, told OK! Online: “For men with sparse eyebrows, microblading is a great option to achieve masculine and defined eyebrows.

“The shape of the brow differs between men and women with men preferring a less sculpted look without the sharp lines and high arches popular with women.”

She added: “Care should be taken when choosing a practitioner for this treatment as a softer, more blended and natural look is required and as such men should select a skilled practitioner who utilises techniques to achieve these results.”

Will one of the girls take things into their own hands to ensure Charlie’s brows get the screen time they deserve? We reckon Hayley is up to the challenge.
